Obituary for Wilda Jean Howe - Chatham Celebration Centre

Wilda Jean Howe (Nee Bonner)

It is with aching hearts and the fondest memories that we have to say goodbye. Surrounded by her family, Wilda passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday August 9, 2023. Loving mother of Rob (Lisa), Ronna (Bob), Sherri (Gary). Treasured Grandma of Toni (Adam), Stevie, Aaron, Ian, Justin (Holly), Jordan (Lindsay), Andrew (Morgan), Morgan (Brittney), Megan (Wes). Loved GiGi of 8 great grandchildren.

Wilda will now be reunited with her beloved son Randy and her granddaughter Brennan.

Wilda put her family at the center of her life and always enjoyed visits, phone calls, reminiscing about the past and any occasion to bring the family together. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or important occasion. She could tell you the date, time and place of all the important life events and enjoyed being the “go to” for family information. Her indomitable spirit will never be forgotten by all who knew her. She was honest, forthright, and terrifically funny. She had a great wit and loved to “spar” with those willing to engage. Until the end a favorite quip when asked how she was feeling was “with my hands!” Her enjoyment of Rice Krispie squares, and scotch mints will forever bring a smile to those who loved her.

Wilda’s first career was as a bookkeeper. She had a brilliant mind for numbers and loved her work; however, it was her second career at a local lottery booth where most knew her from. She loved chatting with her “regulars” and interacting with all who passed by, walking by without a hello was not an option.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who lovingly cared for her at Blenheim Community Village during the last two years. She felt at home there and considered all her extended family.

As per Wilda’s wishes cremation has taken place and she will be honored with a celebration of life later in the summer.
