Roger was the patriarch of his 12 siblings. After his career at the button factory, Roger moved to Harrow to help on the farm with his dad and brothers. Where they raised Aberdeen Black Angus beef, pigs and later cash crops. He was a quiet unassuming man who loved farming fishing hunting and being close to nature. He and his wife, Cecile enjoyed travelling to the southern United States, Mexico and going on cruises.
