Obituary for Alice Verkaik - Chatham Celebration Centre

VERKAIK, Elisabeth Alice (nee Vanderham);
Alice enjoyed life to the fullest, with a special love for the outdoors, animals and pets alike especially her beloved furbaby “Blessings”.
Alice was spiritual in nature with a strong belief in faith, but most important to Alice was her family being a wife, mom and Oma!

Alice passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with her family by her side on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 88.
Alice was born in Holland was the daughter of Joris & Laurina (Nee Roodsand) Vanderham.
Alice was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John Verkaik.
Loving mother of John & Jenn Verkaik, late Tim Verkaik, Dorothy Verkaik (Chris) and Nina & Chris McCathern.
Adored Oma of Felicia Moore (Kenny), Carissa Verkaik, Melissa Verkaik (Taylor Grant), Skylyn Verkaik (Johnny), Nikita Verkaik (Josh), Sadie Verkaik, Jocelyn McCathern (Brett), Brandon McCathern (Erin), Ryan McCathern and Alexis McCathern; and great-oma to Shawn, John, Kaleb, Lucas, Myson, Mya, Alexzander, Kristopher and Olivia.
Sister of Peggy Toirkens, Laura McNally and Cora Kalverda (Meindart).
Alice is predeceased by her great-grandson, Matthew Bates; her father and mother-in-law Willem & Marie Verkaik (nee Lintmeyer); her brother, John Vanderham; her sister-in-law Wilma Hummel, and brother-in-laws Reindart Hummel, Frank Toirkens and Cliff McNally.
Alice was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place at Kendrick Funeral Home, Chatham, on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of life for Alice will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Kendrick Funeral Home (4 Victoria Ave., Chatham, ON).For those unable to physically attend please use this link to attend via live stream https://www.facebook.com/events/5144663375570722?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22surface%22%3A%22page%22%7D]%7D. Burial will follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
